Juakali is more than just a digital field application. It is a comprehensive platform that allows microfinance institutions to streamline their data collection and process automation. It digitizes and automates key workflows such as loan origination, lead management, debt recovery, and loan renewals. Our low-code engine allows institutions to configure their processes step by step, integrating with core banking systems and third-party services like Credit Reference Bureaus and eKYC platforms.

How does it work?

Juakali includes an Android mobile application used by field officers (primarily loan officers) and a web-based platform accessed by staff in branches and at the head office. This setup enables institutions to monitor their teams’ work and make informed decisions on loan applications. The mobile application works offline and syncs when connectivity is available. The system is optimized for low-bandwidth environments, helping organizations expand their outreach while maintaining better control over their field teams.

What is Juakali NOT?

Juakali is not a lender or financial service provider. It does not issue loans or make credit decisions. Instead, it provides technology that helps financial institutions manage their processes more efficiently. Additionally, it is not a customer-facing mobile banking solution provider and does not replace core banking systems.

Why is it called "Juakali"?

“Jua Kali” is a Swahili term meaning “under the hot sun” and refers to Kenya’s dynamic informal sector, known for its adaptability, resourcefulness, and efficiency. We named our platform Juakali because we believe in creating practical, flexible, and powerful digital tools that adapt to real-world financial processes—just like the ingenuity of the Jua Kali sector. We also aim to ease the workload of loan officers who spend too much time under the sun collecting data on lengthy, complex paper forms.

Can Juakali integrate with my existing systems?

Yes. Juakali integrates with core banking systems such as Mambu, Musoni, and Mifos, as well as third-party services like Credit Reference Bureaus, eKYC providers, and mobile money platforms. If an API exists, we can integrate with it. We also offer our own API so that third-party systems can consume Juakali data and trigger processes in an automated manner.
